  • Understand why you are having surgery. If you have questions, contact our office beforehand or bring your written questions on the day of surgery.
  • Prepare a complete list of your medications, medical conditions, and allergies.
  • Discontinue Aspirin, ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatory medications 2 weeks prior to surgery. Tylenol may be taken up to the day of surgery.
  • If you live alone, arrange for someone to stay with you and drive you home after surgery.
  • If you cook regularly, prepare meals in advance or stock up on ready-made foods.
  • Consider placing a chair in your shower or a seat in your bathtub for safety.
  • If you anticipate using crutches for several weeks, arrange for a parking permit prior to surgery by contacting the DMV.
Smoking significantly delays bone, tendon, and ligament healing.
Please stop smoking at least 3–4 weeks before surgery for the best results.
