CONCLUSION

Navigation significantly improves glenoid implantation accuracy, particularly in patients with severe glenoid wear patterns. Its applicability in standard cases is debatable. For experienced shoulder replacement surgeons, it could prove valuable for patients with severe bone defects. Further studies will assess if this will impact clinical and long-term reverse shoulder replacement implant survival outcomes.

My Opinion

Navigation is a tool that has its place in the surgeon’s armamentarium. It is not a crutch or a marketing tool. It will be defined with more studies. Currently it is a great educational tool to accelerate the learning of younger surgeons. It a place in component positioning in difficult / dysmorphic pathologies. Shoulder replacement experience can be beneficial in such cases.
